  • label a neuron and synaptic cleft

 

  • describe the steps involved in neurotransmission at a cellular level

     

  • define what neurotransmitters are, their different types and how they effect a response

     

  • describe the major neurochemical pathways including the serotonergic, dopaminergic, gabanergic and cholinergic pathways

     

  • give examples in clinical practice of how common drugs can affect neuroreceptors

     

  • define and describe agonists, antagonists and neuroregulators

     

  • have an awareness of the steps in the synthesis of the various neurotransmitters.
