  • understand the key concepts in sociocultural psychiatry

     

  • describe the process of adaptation of individuals and groups to a different cultural context

     

  • identify the ways in which culture can influence psychopathology, prevalence of disorders and response to treatment

  • describe basic terminology regarding asylum seekers and refugees, and evaluate the impact of traumatic immigration on their mental health

     

  • identify indicators that women or girls have been, or are at risk of being subjected to genital mutilation and evaluate the impact of the procedure on their mental health.
