  • understand the basic pharmacokinetic principles underpinning therapeutic drug monitoring

     

  • describe what therapeutic drug monitoring is and when it is useful

     

  • understand the limitations of therapeutic drug monitoring

     

  • have a knowledge of the multiple factors that can influence drug handling in vivo and how these affect plasma levels

     

  • apply these principles to the interpretation of plasma drug levels

     

  • apply this knowledge to common psychotropic drugs

     

  • give examples of psychotropic drugs that undergo therapeutic drug monitoring.
